At first glance the missing slice might be obvious.
It's on the table, right? But on closer inspection,
the missing slice is actually on the apple.
When I was doing the set up, as usual, I got hungry
for a little taste of what I was painting. I took another
sliver off of the apple and continued painting. It was
only after I was well into the painting that I realized
that the slice on the table no longer matched the
slice out of the apple. Duh! Of course it changed it!
There was no going back. I tried to paint it back in
but it looked all wrong, so I returned it to it's original
missing piece.
No excuse, it was a case of stomach over mind.

Wonderful, Gwen.....you are amazing!
I am not sure what I love more: Your paintings or your stories.
Hard to tell, I must say both.
So good to see new work again.
Beautiful piece funny story.
Amazingly wonderful and fun!! Love that you admitted eating part of the set up:) You have the best detail on the fabrics!! Those reflections in the bowl are suuuhweet!
Cute post...any way you slice it, it came out great!Yuk, yuk,yuk:-)
Do have to say the apple is a much more wise choice than donuts Gwen:)
As always, beautiful and your draping pattern is just perfect!
I think the fact that a small slice of the apple has been eaten by the artist should jack up the price considerably! Great painting and great story!
That is great and your bowl is killer! Love the interior colour and the reflections on the exterior are perfectly seen ; )
Your colors are so fresh and clean. Beautiful painting.
Your apples do look good enough to eat, this is wonderful Gwen!
Another stunning painting, I'm sure nobody will notice the size of the slice. I have that problem with the grapes I am painting lol
Beautiful painting as well as a wonderful post, Gwen! The reflection is perfect!!
You don't have to 'match' your slices and your holes, sweetie! I don't know how you consistently post these absolutely drop dead gorgeous still lifes on beautiful cloth... but I'm grateful you do!
Just beautiful, Gwen. I've missed catching up on your beautiful work, so glad to do so today.
I like how you paint such interesting backgrounds to your still lifes.
Une nature morte qui semble donc bien vivante!!! avec la petite tranche de pomme manquante!
Un sublime travail et une palette de couleurs qui me plaît beaucoup.
Je vous félicite.
gros bisous.
Ouh la la...Absolutely stunning, Gwenn, bravo!
Love the story that goes with this painting title!
So lovely to see your beautiful work again, Gwen. Love the reflections in the bowl.
So beautiful! I love the apple inside the bowl and the reflections on the outside of the bowl. Well done!
You paint everything beautifully, Gwen - but I am in awe of your reds. They are so rich! This is a great painting...wonder how many artists nibble on their still lifes with fruit as they are working!
Beautiful and perfect as always, Gwen! Missed you at lunch at our last get together...next time!
i like that one...
i remember once when a gallery asked to see my stuff and i brought it in and they chastised me because there wasn't enough red in them. They said 'We don't force our artists to add red to their paintings, but if there is red in them, then they will sell'
Virtually every painting in their place had red or orange somewhere because 'vancouver people get enough rainy weather and they don't want dreary paintings on their walls.' haha...
Oh Gwen, this one is so beautiful - can't believe it's still available!
Love the reflections on the metal bowl, nicely matching tablecloth - and of course, the artist's excuse - oops. You are getting better and better!
It's absolutely beautiful! I don't think anyone would notice if you hadn't told:) I just love the print in the background. Your apples are perfect and so are your reflections. perfection!
Beautiful as always!
It looks delicious, even with the missing slice!
I really love the way you use prints in your paintings.
You have such a wonderful blog, Gwen. You're an absolute inspiration to me... so much so that your wonderful art has motivated me to pick up a paintbrush again for the first time in three years and post my own humble efforts in a blog. Thank you!
Beautiful painting Gwen and the little story behind it is so cute, lol.
Another beauty and a great story!
The title is perfect!
Just catching up and I had to comment on this one! I'm glad the apple slice found its way back - I love how it draws the eye to the bowl.
Fabulous painting Gwen.
