6 x 6 oil on canvas panel SOLD
Some fabrics are harder than others to paint. I didn't
think this one looked too difficult since I've done
busier ones, but it really drove me crazy!
This blog serves as an experiment in development. I am attempting to improve my painting skills and loosen my style.

I'm impressed by the silverware in the cup! You never cease to amaze me with your talent, Gwen. Beautiful painting!
6x6?!? This reads as a much larger piece.... Gorgeous at any size....I've said it before, I'll say it again. When I grow up I want to be a Gwen Bell.
Another stellar painting Gwen...I love the stacked cups!
WOW Gwen this is one of your very best.
Ready to see the red dot soon.
Lovely Gwen,
And here in the frozen north it
was the perfect day for tea.

I could imagine this much larger too.
Beautifully painted as always Gwen!
Teal Time Two is a teal triple treat. You amaze me. The complicated fabric is gorgeous. Love the stacked cups. Favorite moment is the silverware! Beautifully painted.
Love these deep colors. Great job as always!
Another stunning painting, Gwen!
It's gorgeous! I love the shine on the cups, and the angle that you set up the composition... It's so creative and beautifully rendered. I love it!
Ditto on the silverware! I also like the way the pattern plays with and reflects the shapes of the mugs. . . .
You did an amazing job on it!!!
Lovely, just lovely! Nice tie in with the curved design of the fabric and cutlery handles.

Gwen, I love the colors and the silver is done well...I hear you on the fabric...been trying that lately and it is tough! But yours always looks like it was masterfully done.
Gwen I love this and the fabric turned out great!! I just endeavored to paint a crazy patterned fabric in my most current painting, and what a headache. But yours turned out fantastic. Wonderful composition and the silverware adds a little bling:)
Great job Gwen... wow, those cups and that silver. You are such a great painter!!
Give me teal anyday. You continue to amaze me with these paintings. You handle the fabric so well without them overtaking the painting. Well done, Gwen.
One of the things I especially love about your work, Gwen, is your sense of colour. These are not "matchy matchy" but colours that "work" together. They are not just trendy either...these are going to hold up for all time...the simple domestic aspects of life with a focus on a closeup look at the implements we use in this society at this time and place. Love your bravery in cutting the background almost in half horizontally - absolutely works! That with the centered position of the cups offers a wonderful formal seriousness to this simple subject.
I am always so impressed with the way you capture the surfaces of the objects you paint so perfectly. Everything in this painting reads truthfully, and beautifully.
Very nicely done. I am amazed with the silverware.

Looks like I'm the last one in the UNIVERSE to tell you how very much I like this painting! Fabulous job on the perspective, too, and the silverware? Are you kidding? You are the master... no doubt there!
