I know a lot of you have seen Prickly Pear Pears, but
have you ever looked inside one? Once you maneuver
around the tiny black seeds, the pulp is delicious. It
tastes quite similar to strawberry. Prickly Pear Preserves
is really yummy. I have only made it once because the prep
time takes a while. Not only do you have to deal with the
seeds, but the skin has fuzzy hair-like spines in the little
white bumps. If they get in your finger they can be lost in
there for days!

Beautiful Gwen...your work is very elegant...I really like how the oval shape of the prickly pear cactus mimics the pattern on the fabrilc. The hot pink is very sensuous and lush.
Luscious! Love your colour palette.
Yummy colors, love the fabric. Great job, Gwen.
Plaisir des yeux et du palais... Vous nous régalez aujourd'hui... Bisous
Great composition with those straight lines cutting through the circles. Colors are wonderful, the rich reds mirrored in the fabric, and the plate color scattered around. A learning experience for me too...I have often looked at these at the store but never ventured further than that. Very cool inside!
Great composition and the fruit mataching the tablecloth....wonderful!
This is beautiful. We love to eat them cold, in the summer.
Great colors Gwen.
Love the colours, love all the circle and elliptical shapes.
Pretty in Pinks...

The color in this takes my breath away. Love the soft color of the plate against the vibrant colors in the fruit and cloth. Bravo!
So funny, after I wrote bravo, I scrolled down to enter the comment and the security word is bravot. I am easily entertained. bravot
The pinks in this just pop against the other colors. I love pink!
You just keep popping out these little gems.
..and your lines are sublime too...not too mention your sense of color, design and whimsy. I know it when I see it!
Wonderful job Gwen.
I don't know that I have seen a prickly pear. not sure I would like to handle one. LOL. Looks delicious on that plate. so juicy.
It's gorgeous Gwen, such beautiful colors! And I LOVE that pattern on the tablecloth. :)
How smart are you to interrupt all those wonderful circles with that strong straight edge!!! Love the harmonious colors throughout; very, very well done!
the color palette and repetition of like shapes is wonderful-as always:)
Hi Gwen, love your composition with the diagonal and the layer fabrics. The plate is also gorgeous too.
What a treat to see all these beautiful still life paintings as well as animals!! I love them ALL. :)
This looks so good - I wonder how you come up with such interesting set ups - I really enjoying looking at what you're doing - your combinations are always so happy and cheerful.
Oh Gwen...how do you do it?...always something new and so cool! love it!
Never seen them from the inside, they look deliciously painted!
As a far northerner compared to you Gwen, I've only learned about this fruit through artist blogs. This painting makes them look luscious indeed. Beautiful work.
