"Sequestered"

10 x 10, oil on canvas panel SOLD

I've been wanting to paint this mixing bowl for a
while now and these large, shiny apples were just
the
incentive to bring action. Yep...same tea towel.
I am sure I'll get sick of painting it one
of these
days, but for now, it's a joy to solve the
puzzle
of the pattern.

Hi!! I like very much this new painting with apples and the "cul de poule" (en français c'est le juste mot pour ce bol).
Before i had liked your painting with the same cloth... Kisses for the beautiful work.

Gwen, I am a huge fan of using tea towels - who has tablecloths in such wonderful patterns? This is amazing - the different surfaces are evident, yet everything hangs together. You are an inspiration!

I won't get sick of the tea towel - I love the reflection of the bowl, you got the material of the bowl down too - the dark on the inside, the slight reflection of color from the apple - really great - the pattern looks fantastic - I love it!

Wow, you have really explored the depths of techniques and texturing in this series. Fantastic job on the mixing bowl. You can just feel it's cool metallic surface.

Even though you continue to use the same tea towel, is has a new look in each painting. Obviously, you need to continue exploring its possibilities, because you are so successful with each painting. This one in particular is gorgeous.

Simply beautiful, Gwen. Love the shine, and I don't think we'll ever tire of seeing that tea towel. It's very easy on the eye and doesn't detract from the objects in your painting at all.

I'm just loving where your work is going, Gwen. I'm feeling momentum here. Making the background part of the subject really energizes the whole piece. The whole piece reads so well. True for many of your recent pieces, too.

Cute title, Gwen.

This has a very modern feel to it especially in the fabric's pattern.

Nice job on painting all that silver! Looks polished but not unnaturally shiny.

Fun composition having one of the apples resting in the bowl too!

Hi Gwen,

Beautiful, those apples look like the superb ones grown in the Annapolis valley in Nova Scotia.
