"Milk & Cookies"

6 x 6 oil on canvas SOLD

Milk & cookies...one of my favorite things. The only
problem I had with this painting is that I kept
eating the props!

Gwen Bell!... I almost know you don't eat oreos~ Do you?
Well I'm just going to leave the image of them on my computer screen for my viewing pleasure with my coffee. (I have mugs exactly like that)
great reflections.
cool pattern again.

LOVE the pattern again Gwen : ) And yes, it's a classic isn't it? That and warm chocolate chip cookies right out of the oven : ) Really lovely colours.

Lovely work Gwen. Love the Mug and those cookies look so real .. I could just pick one off the plate. My favourite is scotch fingers.
I love the series you are doing with all the cups, mugs and jugs.
Great job. :)

loving all the designs you're working into your pieces. I don't have the patience for doing this but I'm so glad you do. Nice series.

Gwen!

Out of all your recent ceramic still lifes this is the ONLY one I have an issue with.

The mug and cookies look great. So does the floral background.

The only problem I see is that the pattern itself is standing too straight up. It's almost like the mug and cookie plate are floating in front of a patterned wall.

It might help to add some shadows near the underside of the mug and plate (as there doesn't look to be any). This will elminate that "floating" look pronto!

Also, by curving or distorting the background pattern in certain areas it will help give a sense of perspective and depth.

A very strong painting that just needs a little tweaking IMHO!

Hope this helps!
