"Bono" - in tribute

6 x 6 oil on masonite

Today I'm re-posting an older painting in tribute to Bono.

This sweet little guy belonged to my dear friend, Clara.
She rescued him from a shelter about 6 years ago and was
the most loving owner a puppy could ask for. On the other
hand, he was the best dog an owner could ask for...super
smart, loyal, feisty and an amazing guard dog. All dogs are
special but Bono was a Super Nova.

He was diagnosed a few weeks ago with inoperable Cancer.
The past two weeks of his life were spent with daily trips to
the Dog Park and car rides to give his little nose a treat.

We said our last goodbyes this morning and took him to the Vet
where he died in his Momma's arms. He was only 7 years old.

Sleep peacefully, Sweet Bono. We will miss you.

That is so sad that Bono had such a short life, but I am sure that he had a happy one and he will live on in your portrait and in the owners heart forever.

This is such a wonderful tribute to Bono, not only the painting, but your sweet words. So difficult when a pet dies. My thoughts and prayers to you and your friend, Clara.

Oh, that just makes me want to cry. Poor little Bono. I think so many of us can relate. On another note, Go Gwen on the Daily Painters!!!!! I am so impressed. I hope that all of your family, friends and studio friends know to vote for you! Good luck, and have an artful weekend.

Very heart rending. I gave up my little Dolly Feb. 25th and still feel the pain as though it were new. But the good memories are always present.

That's a very well done painting of the little guy, Gwen.

What a wonderful tribute and painting! I love my little puppy so much I can't even imagine life without her. I hope your friend has another puppy to hold right now.

On a happier note—congratulations on the new daily painters site!!
Exciting!!!!!

Gwen, this is a tribute that is worthy of a GREAT dog. I bet his life with your friend, although short, was very happy. What more can any of us ask? I'm teary typing this. I sympathize with the pain your friend and you feel.

It is a beautiful portrait and you are the true-est blue-est of friends to go with Clara and Bono.
We are all animal lovers here, and can relate to this tough decision. It takes courage and love to do this for our four legged best friends. And THEY ARE!!
