10 x 10 oil on canvas panel SOLD
I have a small Japanese Maple in my front yard.
The leaves are the darkest maroon and green.
I thought they would look nice with an orange.
When I was doing the set up I spaced the orange
slices evenly inside the bowl and intended to do
a birdseye view. However, the reflection on the
side of the bowl kept calling to me so this version
is what I ended up going with.

Unusual, and very fascinating! I like this a lot, Gwen.
Beautiful painting--I have to agree, those reflections are especially eye-catching!
Good choice! I LOVE those reflections, you are so good at that :)and I love Japanese Maples, I gotta get me one of those.
The shadows and reflections are beautiful, Gwen. The leaves and oranges make a nice composition. It is so beautifully painted.
This is very nice. I especially like the reflection on the bowl.
Japanese Maple trees are my favorite! I remember reading a story when I was a child where an artist dipped a chicken's feet in paint and let it run across a piece of paper. The foot prints ended up looking like red maple leaves floating down a creek. I LOVE your edamame painting too!
This is an excellent composition with the strong plump orange slices against the delicate and slender leaves. I love the shadows and refletions. Fabulous!
Real nice, Gwen. You do orange slices so beautifully. Enjoy Mother's Day.
What a lovely pairing!! The maple leaves go perfectly with the orange slices and so beautifully composed as well! Your fruit still lifes are not just fruit arranged and painted, there's something much deeper and mysterious that pulls one in to each composition. Another bravo my friend!
Good choice to go with the reflections! You have done them well. Also a great choice on the supporting background color. Excellent!
This is a very pleasing painting. I think the maple leaves add an exotic feeling to this piece. I love the reflection in the bowl.
Very nice piece.
I love it!
Thats how I love to start my day, with great painting.
Happy Mothers day.
Beautiful job Gwen. The leaf reflection is lovely in the dish.
Those reflections are cool, and the maple leaves have interesting shapes...almost herb like. Very nice painting Gwen.
I love what you've been doing here, Gwen. I have a thing for Oriental 'anything'.
Gwen, this is striking! The reflections on the bowl are delicate and add much interest but I also really love how you did the reflections on the tabletop. I think they are a quiet supporting player to the success of the painting. Beautifully seen. And I also think the inside work on the bowl is quite something. The colours read perfectly. Lovely.
This is striking. I love the way you handled the reflections - just beautiful.
Such wonderful detail Gwen. Your still lifes just keep getting more and more incredible!
Love the painterly feel....Very nice.
The house we just bought has a Japanese maple in front, too.
Everything is excellent.

Great compliments...textures...& reflections too!
A bit of the unexpected, intrigue~ in bringing that leaf in! ~nice~
Great portrait work, recently also!
Hi Gwen:
Beautiful reflection work on the bowl and table. It feels like I could reach out and touch the bowl (and eat the oranges).

What a wonderful still life - so beautifully composed and painted. I love the subtle reflections of the orange slices. Well done, Gwen.
I too love the way you handled the reflections. I enjoy the way you put your still lifes together.
Wow!! Gwen, what a lovely composition. You really raised the bar with this one. The geometry of the Japanese Maples looks so lovely with the round oranges and those reflections and shadows just enhance EVERYthing. Nice job!!
Gwen, I think this is one of your prettiest pieces.
Love the colour combination how clever to put the two together, another fine painting.
So beautiful and delicate, Gwen. You are doing some wonderful work!
What an interesting combination, Gwen!
The spiky Japanese maple leaves compliment the smooth, rounded orange wedges perfectly!
