"Mocha Egg"

6 x 6 oil on canvas panel SOLD

Tried to think of something that would make an

interesting reflection and decided upon this egg.
Once I had the set-up arranged I realized the shell
was the exact same Mocha color as my coffee. Love
it when little surprises like that happen in a painting!

NICE Gwen! And aren't those lovely eggshells! You got the beautiful thin brittle look of the shells with a very lovely colour inside and out. And I'm really lovin' that highlight on the handle of the mug.

Hi Gwen:
Thanks for all your comments on my blog. This painting called Mocha Egg is a wonderful composition with beautifully handled reflections on the mug's shiny surface. You really captured the subtle tones of the brown egg shell, that as you say, match the colour of your coffee.

Hi Gwen,

I always love paintings with coffee in them, because they seem so hopeful. The beginning of a day, the promise of something new. Then the egg getting ready to be cooked, or to go into muffins. This lovely painting makes me both happy and hungry.

Yum.

Thank you for your beautiful work.

this is incredible gwen! i love everything about it. i get the same feeling every time i visit! just such incredibly consistent, creative, well painted and beautifully composed work. This is quiet brilliance. You use of color is light and gives a watercolor feeling, but at the same time achieves the strong structure of oil! Well done.

And thank you so much for you kind comments! Your words mean a lot.

Gwen, this is SO good!

The composition is very strong.

The shadows from the dish and eggshells balance out the dark mug wonderfully.

You nailed the egg's reflection on the mug too. It's so super tiny, I don't know how you did it....but you did!

Oh and that periwinkle background....lovely!

Be proud of this one!
