"Red On Red"

6 x 6 oil on canvas SOLD

Another apple. Can't get enough of the beautiful reds in them.

This Oriental bowl sits in my living room and I don't know why
I have never thought to paint it before. You know how things
seem to disappear if you see them too often. The reds in the bowl
were nearly identical to the apple. I also played around with lost
edges a bit in this one. Admittedly, they are small but definitely lost.

I like how you were able to mimic the calligraphy and the brush strokes on the decoration circling the bowl. Red is a lucky and celebratory color in Asian cultures. Well done!

Nice job handling all the pattern on the bowl and maintaining the form. I like the loose color on the apple too.

You handled the pattern really well. The apple looks like could pick it up and take a bite. Lovely little jewel.

Very nice Gwen, love the colors. I read somewhere a while back that people buy paintings with red in them, hmmm. You think?

Hi Gwen,

This is lovely. That apple looks so
smug to have made it into the special
bowl. Glorious.

Love all the red! I don't know how you did such a great job on the bowl, but it is beautiful. It looks like it couldn't have been an easy subject. Having the red apple inside makes the apple look very special. Very nice painting!
