"Odd Man Out"

6 X 6 oil on canvas SOLD

My sister gave me this little dish. It was just the right size

to fit a family of Clementines on, with the exception of
Slow Poke who missed the boat.

I'm trying to "go off" chocolate cake (my Crack Cocaine) and
am using the Clementines as Methadone. It keeps me away
from the hard stuff like...well, chocolate cake and ice cream.
I'm only human though, and they have no idea how lucky
they were to have lasted through a Still Life before I lost my
self-control
and ate every last one of the sweet little things!
My grapes in "Four And Counting" we not so lucky.

When you have top of the grade painters saying they love this, you know you've done a superb job. I'll join in and say I love the composition and your brush strokes.

Yes, this one is so organic. I think of Georgia O'Keefe or a landscape when I view it. That little blue-gray in the pith.

The piece on the table is one second away from
being eaten. And the painting itself is delicious. Super work.

My favorite part is the way you handled the white "skins" around the orange slices. Beautiful all around.

Great painting, Gwen! When you enlarge it, you can see the thickness of the white paint to show the edges and centers of the clementines. You have made them so realistic looking with so few brush strokes.

The brushwork texture on those little darlins is nice! Good substitute for the chocolate craving.

This is one of my all-time favorite paintings of yours. Every single bit of it works perfectly, and the whole is greater than the sum.
Chocolate cake is probably my favorite thing on earth to eat. Only if it's really dark and moist....mmmmmmm....sorry. I don't let myself eat it more than a couple of times a year. But I do let myself have some good organic dark chocolate (Chocolove 77%) every single day. :)
