"It's Alive!"

Well, I pulled through the surgery great. No more fungus
among us.
Thank all of you so much for your well
wishes and prayers!
Don't have a new painting to post
yet and have one week to go before I'm released from the
doc, but I can't wait to jump in and start commenting on
the great work all of you have been doing these past few weeks!

Gone for a while

I am having sinus surgery on Monday and feel really lousy so
this will be my last post for at least a week or two. I'm sure I'll
still view every one's awesome work but doubt I'll be painting
or posting anything new until I recuperate.

When I first started blogging around the first of the year it was
mainly as a way to look back and track personal growth. I wasn't
prepared to meet so many encouraging...and immensly talented...
new friends. Now the blog has become a real and vital social
community for me
and I find myself eager to get online each day
to see what new
wonderful art you have to share and what
genuinely entertaining things y'all are saying to each other.

Not only has the community been great, it's been a wonderful
teaching tool. So many of you are years ahead of me in your
process. Examining your beautiful work, reading your posts and
receiving your encouraging feedback has been more helpful than
any art class I could
ever attend.

Thank you all so much! See you soon.

"Oh Taxi!"

10 X 10 oil on masonite SOLD

Had a hard time deciding if I was going to participate

in this latest challenge from Karin Jurick on DSFDF.
Astigmatism is not my friend. But then that's what guide
lines are for, right? So why didn't I use them???? Who knows.
It was fun doing a City scene. So what if my buildings are a
bit rubbery? I'd like to do more and
find richer grays and
straighter lines along the way. There are already so many
good and creative submissions on her blog. It's so much
fun every month...seeing all the different interpretations.

Some
of Karin's street scenes are so rich with warm grays. Just
love the one she did of the Capital. I took her advice and checked
out all the other Urban Painters. It's so great that she takes to time
to put, not just direction and motivation, but the fun in the
assignments
.
