"Orange Daisies"

6X6 oil on masonite
SOLD

And now for something completely different...
This is my first floral painting in nearly a year of blogging.
I got a bit burned out on flowers from my Mural days, but
my friend, Don, brought me these gorgeous orange ones
and they were so beautiful I just had to paint them!
I think this one would be really pretty on a very large
canvas so that's in the works.

Gwen, I tried painting a similar subject in a still-life class this week with disappointing results. Those flowers humbled me and reminded me what a challenge painting in oil can be. Beautiful job here, it reveals your expertise with the medium.

To say that I'm in awe would be downplaying
how magnificent I think you are. What skill
to take these flowers and make them seem
infused with light -- symbols of the sun
itself. Brilliant.

These are GORGEOUS Gwen!!!! I've seen Gerbers in the store and have always been intimidated to try and paint them. Now I know how a master handles this challenging subject.

Absolutely gorgeous. I have been painting in orange lately, and find it a difficult color to work in. You did a great job here with the colors and their shadow. Would look spectacular on a large scale!

Gwen!

I'm glad you discovered painting flowers again!

This would indeed make a great larger painting but it's already quite impressive considering the smaller size.

The colors are really intense and vivid without being unnatural looking.

And there appears to be a ridiculous amount of detail near the center of each bloom! Wow!!

Just great!
