"Green & Blue"

6 X 6 oil on masonite SOLD

Well finally! I'm enjoying painting again. I think
the
problem was that I hadn't painted from life
in a long time.
I was in a Photo-rut. It was so much
fun to see the actual
object...the shadows pushing
the light, natures vibrant colors
in the sunlight, actual
dimension...
ahhhhhhh. I've ordered some Radiants
and can't wait for them to get here.
I couldn't make a
color as intense as I needed for the bowl. But
that's ok.
At least I loved painting it!

Beautiful, Gwenn. And that blue's gorgeously intense on my monitor! You have a good point about painting from life. Makes a huge difference. This is so alive. Love the overhead vantage point, too.

Absolutely wonderful! Nothing like painting from life is there? Glad you are enjoying the process. It shows!

Well I'm really enjoying this painting Gwen. I really love the blue shadows in the apples, the loose clean colours, and everything else for that matter.

Gwen!

The thing I love the most about this painting is the apples themselves.

They're green apples but you managed to sneak some reddish-browns and blues in there as well and it just works.

I love that the blue of the bowl reflects onto the apples! That's the best part!

Very beautiful, Gwen. I could tell that you enjoyed painting it by the freedom of the brushwork. Great point of view too. Well done!

Beautiful painting Gwen! I really get a sense of the smooth ceramic bowl, and I love how the color is reflecting off the apples. You're right, there is nothing like painting from life!

Yep, great composition, welcome to the daily painting blog-o-sphere. (Hey, a late welcome is better than never, right?!)

Hey Gwen, lovely composition and color, beautiful! Let us know what you think of the Radiants when they arrive. I luv em! They've been part of my arsenal for about 3 months and I wouldn't go anywhere without them.

Love the colors here. Glad to have found your blog--I cracked up at the "following yourself" entry. Sounds like something I'd have done!

I love the colours of this painting, Gwen.

I could just pick up one of those green apples & I can imagine the juicy crunch of that first bite.

I love the underpainting of the bowl & background - especially those two colours of the background together.

By the way, I love your hair (in your "about me" photo). :-)
