This is my backyard. Not really. I'm in Dallas. The ground is covered in thick white sleet...the closest we've come this year to "snow". The entire city shuts down when it gets icy because no one knows how to drive on the slick streets. I just heard on the news that even with most people off of the roads there were still nearly 200 car wreaks today! It's kind of nice being literally stuck inside. It put me in a Winter Mood. I put on a pot of beans and settled in to paint. I found this vacation photo and thought it was apropos.
12 X 12 oil on masonite SOLD It was the coldest day of the year and my cat, Smokie, found the sunniest spot in the yard and stayed there all day.
This was my first "loose" painting. I'm happy with the left corner and the pink illuminated ear. However, I am fighting the urge to correct the mouth, chin and nose. Part of the learning experience will be to leave it alone. New Mantra: Accept Imperfection.
Thank you so much for checking out my Blog and joining me on my new adventure into Fine Art Painting.
I was a Commercial Freelance Artist for 15 years and a Muralist for 10. Now I'm trying my hand at Oil Painting.
I am hoping that this Blog journal will allow me to see style progression. Who knows what the subject will be? Today animals, yesterday Still Life. I'm willing to go anywhere the Muse takes me. I hope you'll follow along with me!
